Angelo Gaja's Italian Cult Wines

We sat back in the comfortable seats at the Fairmont Empress' dining lounge, eagerly awaiting the chance to taste seven of Angelo Gaja's famous wines from Piedmont.  The small group had forked out $100 each to get an ounce of of seven wines which, in some cases, sell for as much as $700.  The wait was well worth it.

We gathered together in a spectacular residence atop Lone Tree Hill just outside Victoria, British Columbia to taste a selection of wines from the McLaren Vale in Australia and a selection of BC wines.  Joining us was David Wehrs of Pertaringa who acts as a winemaking consultant and international marketing director.

His 100pt score for his 2006 version of "Amon-Ra" has sent him hurtking into the stratosphere.  On one of his stop-over's in the middle of a whirl-wind, continent hopping tour, Ben took some time to talk to a group of lucky wine enuthsiats about himself and his projects.
